What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a form of treatment, where patient and therapist work together to explore and understand the dynamics of one’s mind.
I deeply believe, that psychotherapy can transform lives. It brings relief and helps to cope. Psychotherapy can teach you how to live more fully, create happier relationships and fulfil your goals and dreams.
In a safe and non-judgemental space of therapy you will discover the meaning behind you suffering. You will become more self-aware and more in control of your life. You will get tools, that will help you handle the situations you’ll find in the future.

How is it to work with me?
At first I invite you for introductory consultations. It is usually one to three meetings, during which we assess the problem and find an appropriate helping solution. This is also an opportunity to get to know each other. If there is an indication, we decide to start short-term or long-term work.
During the third session we discuss the „therapeutic contract” – the formal rules of therapy. We also formulate the goals of therapy, taking into consideration your diagnosis, capabilities and limitations.
I work in psychodynamic approach. This kind of therapy examines the dynamics of inner experiences in the therapeutic relationship. We uncover the unconscious and in this way you become transformed, stronger and free.
Recently there have been many research showing that psychodynamic psychotherapy is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, personality disorders, eating disorders and general life, work or relationship problems. Contraindications to this kind of therapy are substance abuse and active psychosis.
There are three aspects important in my work:

UNDERSTANDING (INSIGHT)
During therapy we work together towards discovering, what goes on deep inside you – we look for missing links and meanings. Even the most bizarre symptoms and behaviours tell us something, they have profound psychological sense.
Most of the time symptoms and emotional problems are created by unconscious patterns of thinking and feeling, coming from the past experiences. If you ask yourself: „Why do I feel like that?” or „Why do I do that?” – this kind of therapy is for you.
During therapy we try to understand, where is the source of your problems, what is the meaning behind your relationships and patterns that you repeat. We examine emotions and thoughts from your past but also those appearing here nad now, in the therapeutic relationship and other interactions important to you. I encourage you to share freely your thoughts and associations, especially the most private ones, hidden in everyday life.
ACCEPTANCE
In therapy you learn to accept yourself and your history. Acceptance comes with understanding. You learn to acknowledge thoughts, feelings and needs that you have rejected.
You have a chance to find out who you are, to treat yourself with more care and to believe in yourself. You built authentic self-esteem, that comes from within. Your need for perfection decreases, and you stop the need to rely on the acceptance and confirmation of others.
You observe changes in your relationships, because you start seeing and accepting people around you for who they really are. You understand them better. You learn to give and receive love, gratitude and recognition.


CHANGE
Positive outcomes of psychotherapy result from the cooperation with the therapist and your own work. If you want therapy to be effective you need an authentic long-term commitment and readiness for deep, sometimes hard work.
As a result of psychotherapy you should soon start to have more influence in your own life and take more responsibility for what happens to you. Your personality becomes less rigid and it becomes easier to adapt to various life situations.
These changes are not always obvious and not always quick. They can come about during therapy or even later, after its end. It works like a powerful process that has been put into motion. It will support you in your life journey throughout many future years.
All the above processes can only happen in a safe and trustful therapeutic relationship – this is the basis of the whole therapeutic work and the most influential healing factor. It brings about the „corrective emotional experience”, which is a condition for a lasting change.
